A Cruise to Consider: Take the World’s Oldest Registered Passenger Ship on a Cruise Through the Gota Canal

MS Juno World's Oldest Registered Passenger ShipThis morning I am reading about Gavin Bell’s adventure aboard the MS Juno, cruising through the 120 mile long Gota Canal which he wrote about for the The Telegraph.  It turns out that the MS Juno launched in 1874 and is currently the world’s oldest registered ship.  That’s a very interesting fact, I’m not sure that is a good thing.

Gavin describes the cabins as the size of a sleeping compartment on a luxury train and I’m not sure that works for me.  Although I don’t like to spend much time in my cabin on cruises, when I do, I don’t want to be claustrophobic …

I would, however, love to check out the Gota Canal which runs from Stockholm to Gothenburg.  The scenery looks beautiful.

If you are looking for a hotel in Stockholm, Bell recommends the Nobis Hotel which is a 201 room independent hotel in downtown Stockholm on Norrmalmstorg Square.  If you are staying in Gothenburg, he suggests Hotel Flora, which is a 4 star hotel.

Ryanair flies from London Stansted Airport to both Stockholm and Gotheburg and there are a number of tour operators that offer Gota Canal Cruise Holiday Packages.
